Position Summary
Michigan State University actively promotes a dynamic research and learning environment in which qualified individuals of differing perspectives and cultural backgrounds pursue academic goals with mutual respect and shared inquiry.
The Department of Psychology at Michigan State University is recruiting a faculty member with expertise in organizational psychology or a related field for a tenure system appointment at the assistant professor level starting Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have established a strong program of visible research, a history of (or clear potential for) external funding, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in a) undergraduate and graduate teaching, and b) diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are particularly interested in applicants researching issues related to the future of work. Examples of such topics might include: the rise of virtual and hybrid work and contingent employee/employer work arrangements; automation, digitization, and artificial intelligence applications in careers and organizations; human-agent or human-robot interactions; leadership in global, hybrid, and changing work contexts; reskilling, promoting life-long learning, and adaptability; the use of predictive workforce analytics; creating more diverse and inclusive workforces, and mitigating potential inequity risks related to technological change; and managing an aging workforce. However, this list is not meant to be comprehensive—the ideal candidate may well have interests related to the future of work that are not represented by the description above.
The candidate recruited for this position would join an active, intellectually diverse, and productive group of scholars interested in organizational and work behavior in the Department of Psychology (https://psychology.msu.edu/programs/organizational/index.html) as well as elsewhere in the university and College of Social Science. Due to the diversity of our interests, graduate students in Psychology at Michigan State University are exposed to a variety of ways of thinking and methodologies for conducting research, and our faculty pursue ideas that cross the boundaries separating conventional domains of research.
